Grace U

Grace University
Like an unpredicted storm it slammed all from behind
It’s not fair, not right, definitely not kind.
They stole your home away from home,
Left with nowhere to go and left all alone.
Ripping apart the family we built from day one,
Our future seasons abruptly ended, long gone, done.
Relinquishing all suspense and fears,
That this family of ours held dear.
Of what would have come with our strong-willed team.
That Grace soccer team has lost it’s dream.
Best friends, miles and miles apart.
But distance can’t change sisters at heart.
The image of taking the last steps across the field.
Lining up, side by side, number order, now distilled.
On the field we deemed home so many, many times,
To be only a memory left vacant in our minds.
Your parents and fans, supporters and all,
Lined up that field to play ball.
Their cheers and chants gave us an adrenaline rush,
The will to press on, beat the other teams in a crush.
We played and coached for the love of the game; you couldn’t take that away from us.
It showed when we practiced, performed, it was for more than us.
The pride and joy we took in the game,
With togetherness and love you simply couldn't tame.
We lived for the moments that took our breath away,
Some quite literal and others in different ways.
The ups, the downs, and craziness life brought,
All because of the Grace life sought.
They say that when one door closes, another one opens…
There must be a reason this ultimatum was chosen.
And that every new beginning come from some other
Beginnings end.
All will move on the best we can,
Friends forever and even more than.
Even though dreams will be new
Grace University lives in you
