Earning Grace

Grace. What a simple concept, yet incredibly intricate all at the same time. To be clear, when I talk about grace, I am referring to the unmerited favor of God. Key word there is “unmerited.”

There is absolutely nothing I did to earn God’s grace. That is somewhat unsettling at first. If I had earned his grace, then there is something I can do to maintain it.

 I use to wake up every day and try to earn God’s grace. I would try anything to regain the love and grace God provides. The beautiful thing is that he has taken it completely out of my hands. Grace is not a contract where I have to fulfill my end of the deal. No. Grace is a FREE gift. God is also not an Indian giver! So, you are pretty much set. All you have to do is accept the gift.

There is nothing you can do to make God love you any more. Fact. There is nothing you can do to make him love you any less. Fact.

 The only good thing is Christ. There is no grace without him, and there is no love apart from him.

Be loved.

 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.
