Big Lessons from a Little Duck

Big Lessons from a Little Duck

My sister’s bird, duckie, is dumb. She is about 2 inches tall and a few ounces before she poops. What she lacks in stature, she makes up with personality.  She is LOUD, and fearless (most of the time.)

Duckie likes to walk around and explore. We have so many animals that could eat her, so that is usually not a wise choice.

The picture below was taken on one of those occasions. My sister, Kim, is the one taking the picture. Kim is duckie’s human and she can’t stand to NOT be with her. She wanted to be with Kim so bad, but Murphy was in the way. So, what did she do?

She found her bravery and walked up to Murphy (my dog.) He was really confused so didn’t do anything. We would keep moving her away, yet she kept trying to get to Kim. She refused to quit.

Let us look at this picture and not consider that she is just a little bird.
Even though she is little and definitely under matched in any battle, she still kept going back. She wanted her human so bad. Duckie wanted her human so bad that she didn’t consider how little she was compared to Murphy. She didn’t consider that she could literally be eaten.

So, I know she is a little dumb bird, but we can really learn from her.

What stops us from pursuing God with the same vigor and fight that a 2 inch (super annoying) feathery creature shows? What stops us from doing whatever we can to get even a little closer to him?

I know what stops me…lets be really honest here…

Fear.

Doubt.

Comfort.

The truth is. Duckie never got past Murphy. The truth is Kim rescued her.

The truth is…God will always rescue us.

Despite what are circumstances are, or what we are going through, God is always good. He is always in control. He will always rescue you, always. God is always God.

This is a huge lesson I’m learning right now. God loves you because of who you are not in spite of it. He will always, always love you.
Whatever he may be leading you through, know that it will be okay. It will be okay, because Jesus wins.

Just be loved.

Nahum 1: 7
The Lord is GOOD, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.

 Psalm 9:9

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a STRONGHOLD in times of trouble.

keep on keeping on
