I was born on September 18th, 1989 in Louisiana. My family moved away from there when I was very little, but my parents never let us forget where we came from. I am the fourth of four girls. We had a sister, Kristen Renee, pass away so I grew up with two sisters.
My parents are amazing people. My dad is the funniest, most genuine, hardest working person you will probably ever meet. The three things he loves most in this world are God, his family, and of course New Orleans Saints football. My mom is very kind, loving, and sincere. My parents are the least judgmental people on the face of the planet.
My sisters are pretty much rock stars too. Kim is the oldest. Her life is devoted to other people. She is constantly serving someone somewhere. Kelly is the crazy red head. She is only two years older than me so we had the same friends and did the same things growing up. I had most of my “firsts” with her. She and her fiancĂ© (Stacey) recently brought my favorite niece into the world. As dumb as it is to say, before Lakelyn was born I didn’t think it was possible to love another human being that much.
My family obviously has had our problems. However, at the end of the day there isn’t anyone else I want to talk to or hang out with. We have the amazing ability to laugh and have fun. That is the best thing my family taught me…to laugh and enjoy the moment.
Growing up I was super active. We usually had something going on EVERY night of the week. Besides church I participated in softball, basketball, taekwondo, volleyball, tennis (for a summer), track, show choir, speech, band, and of course my first love, soccer. Between my sister and I, we would sometimes have soccer every day. But, that is what we preferred.
Playing that many sports does come with injury of course. You will read later but I have had many concussions and torn both ACL’s. Crazy! By the time I went to college I had already had three concussions.
I know this is a bit redundant but I have to say my parents literally only missed a few games my entire life. The ones they did miss were when I was in college and we traveled far away. My parents were at every game growing up. It was so amazing. Whether it was 25 degrees or 105…. they were there. My parents even let me go to Texas one summer to train and my dad drove all the way down to pick me up when the airlines messed up. Crazy.
I had a very normal average childhood. We were happy for the most part. In high school I did start to feel different than my classmates though. I couldn’t really put into words how I felt or understood why I felt them. I felt that I could “feel” more than other people. Things affected me more than the average person. I started to become way more introverted and uncomfortable in crowds. Then I went to college...
To be continued.
